KDOC-TV and the Orange County Register formed a partnership to create Daybreak OC, Orange County's first weekday morning newscast. KDOC delivers timely and informative Orange County news and traffic reports on broadcast television; and through the Internet to viewers of KDOC-TV; and to Web users of OCRegister.com, the Register's Web site.

Daybreak OC launched in high definition (HDTV) on KDOC on Monday, September 10. The newscast airs Monday-Friday from 6 am to 8 am.

"The news gathering staff of the Register and KDOC has joined forces to develop stories from the ground up. This is the most advanced integration of print and broadcast journalism in the country," said Bert Ellis, owner of KDOC.

Daybreak OC is a two-hour newscast with each half hour beginning with a brief summary of the main headlines and key stories from the Register. The newscast then features comprehensive coverage each half hour specifically focused on Orange County news and lifestyle with numerous interviews with local newsmakers. Traffic and weather reports will appear on screen throughout the two hour period. Detailed traffic reports will be given three times per half hour focusing on Orange County's freeways.

The stories on Daybreak OC will be fast-paced and informative. They are written and produced for viewers who want to get a lot of news quickly. In addition, Daybreak OC will have vibrant and effective graphics.
